Waiting on Wednesday: Scarlet

…hosted by Breaking the Spine

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
Publishing: February 5th 2013 by Feiwel and Friends
Format: Hardcover, 464 pages

Synopsis:

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.

As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Thoughts:

Again, this is coming out in less than a week, and again I have pre-ordered this book! A year ago, Cinder brought me back into the world of reading. I cannot wait to continue the story that Marissa Meyer has built around these fairy tales.

Waiting on Wednesday: Prodigy

…hosted by Breaking the Spine

Prodigy by Marie Lu
Publishing: January 29, 2013 by Putnam Juvenille
Format: Hardcover, 384 pages

Synopsis:

June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the unthinkable happens: the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. With the Republic edging closer to chaos, the two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. They have only one request—June and Day must assassinate the new Elector.

It’s their chance to change the nation, to give voice to a people silenced for too long.

But as June realizes this Elector is nothing like his father, she’s haunted by the choice ahead. What if Anden is a new beginning? What if revolution must be more than loss and vengeance, anger and blood—what if the Patriots are wrong?

Thoughts:

I know this comes out in less than a week… but I’ve pre-ordered it and it is one of my most anticipated books of this year! The first book was amazing and I cannot wait to continue the story in this compelling dystopian world. Definitely one to pick up (as well as the first in the series) if you love dystopian / action / dual narratives / strong female characters. *eeee only 6 more days til this one… well, actually… a bit longer since I ordered this from online… argh*

Update: Apologies

Sincerest apologies to my followers, subscribers, and random readers from google. I have been away for over a month due to an extended vacation with my family.

Did not do much reading during my vacation, unfortunately. And with the new semester starting up again, I am afraid I will be hard-pressed to read books at the pace I started out at. Argh! I didn’t even accomplish my goal of reading 40 books in 2012! *Sad*

Anyways, I’ll be updating, hopefully more regularly now that I’m back home. In the meantime enjoy the cute puppy picture…
